KID FRIENDLY ~
SATURDAY APRIL 26th
What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is a re-surfacing practice that uses the power of deliberate breathing techniques to quiet the mind and/or access parts of sub/unconscious mind. By consciously engaging in these techniques, we reset the body's equilibrium, strengthen the diaphragm, and open to our inner wisdom, among many other benefits.
Each day, we inhale and exhale an average of 22,000 breaths and the body will always prioritize this fundamental function, compromising the other systems if necessary to do so. The quality of our breathing can also be influenced by various factors, including present stressors, past experiences, and our overall mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Through the practice of breathwork and focused breathing exercises, we can both soothe and strengthen not only our respiratory system, but the body as a whole. This part is led by Kat.
What is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic dance is a free flowing movement meditation, where one has the opportunity to connect with themselves, community and spirit, with intention. The steps of the feet are unbound, without needing to follow instructions from a leader. In ecstatic dance, the music is the leader and the people choose how to flow and weave through the soundscape. This part is held by Keeya, a certified Dance The Medicine Ecstatic Dance facilitator.
✨️Where: TBA
✨️Why: Because life can move so rigidly, sometimes we need to remind ourselves how to let loose and how to enjoy it through music and movement.
