Salsa Dancing (Lesson included)

Details

Have you ever wanted to learn salsa dancing? This is a great way to get some cheap lessons and practice. Carolina Dance Club has lessons and dancing every Sunday at the Elks Lodge and it’s a lot of fun. Who wants to join me to give it a try? Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Cost is $15 (best to bring cash) and includes a group salsa dance lesson at 3:00 followed by 2 hours of Latin dancing (salsa, tango, cha-cha, bachata, etc) and an east coast swing lesson at 6:00 followed by open dancing from 7:00 until 10:30. You’ll get a wrist band to get back in if you leave for a dinner break. They have free snacks and water for sale. Cash bar opens at 7:00.
A few important details:
1. No need to get dressy unless you want to. The most important thing is comfort! Wear something that is not restrictive so you can move comfortably. There will be plenty of folks in jeans or stretchy pants.
2. Shoes should be something with a back (no flip flops or slides) and preferable something that doesn't grip the floor. Some tennis shoes will work, but flats or loafers would be best.
3. NO PARTNER NEEDED! There are a lot of regulars here that show up every Sunday and they dance with everyone. During the class, they start with a line of leaders and a line of followers. After some instruction, you pair up to practice and then rotate partners every few minutes. You will NOT be the only person without a partner!!
4. You can come just for the East Coast Swing portion at 6:00 or just Salsa at 3:00, but I'll be there for the whole thing except for a quick dinner break around 5:00. If you are coming later than 3:00, just add a comment and I'll save you a seat. I'll have a table with a Meetup sign. The dance lasts until 10:30 with West Coast Swing music during the last couple hours. I'm sure I'll be ready to leave by 8:00, but feel free to stay as long as you want.
5. Bring a fan if you get hot easily. Paper fan or a battery operated personal fan will come in handy. Also a sweater! It will feel cold when you get there, but later in the evening when it's crowded, it will get very warm.
