The Morelli House Toastmasters Club was founded by 3 members of the Junior League of Las Vegas. The founders of Morelli House Toastmasters are Kris Hostetter, Michele Shafe, and Suzette Wheeler. This spin-off club was named after the historically significant Morelli House which is owned by the Junior League of Las Vegas. With this newly formed Toastmasters Club, the founders aimed to be a diverse group for both men and women to be able to improve their public speaking and leadership skills, while at the same time creating an environment of giving. Whether you meet with people face to face today or virtually, your communication skills are a vital part of your success. A good communicator can make or break your next business pitch or proposal.
The Morelli House was so generously donated to the Junior League and has continued to give back to this organization as it serves as their headquarters and is a part of Las Vegas history that remains open to the public for tours. Antonio Morelli changed the face of Las Vegas entertainment by bringing a high-quality musical program to the city as the musical director for the Sands Hotel.
Antonio and his wife Helen built this state-of-the-art home in what is now the Wynn Hotel site, in a subdivision called the Desert Inn Estates. It was an exclusive area and Antonio built a state-of-the-art, high-tech home, complete with a music studio and many high-end stereo features. Due to the nature of Antonio's features, a crawl space was built and no other home in this area had such an architectural feature. That crawl space is the only reason the Morelli House stands today. The crawl space enabled the home to be moved from the Desert Inn Estates to its current home at 9th and Bridger, avoiding demolition.
Yes, our club has a history, but we also provide a comfortable, supportive environment to help you develop your speaking skills, and help you learn to speak extemporaneously.
Please join us! We are located in Henderson at Mimi's Restaurant, 596 North Stephanie, Henderson, NV 89014.
We also do a simulcast live stream of our meetings via Zoom for those who cannot join in person. If you RSVP to our Meetup we will email you the Zoom instructions. Please be sure to RSVP so you get the Zoom link. Also, if you have any technical difficulty connecting to us via Zoom, please do not struggle. Toastmasters offers an environment of networking and learning with others who will support you. Toastmasters provides a learning path that is online and easy to follow. You will have projects to complete if you wish to achieve Toastmaster designations or credentials.
