We are located at 216 South Grant Street, Denver, CO. There is parking on the South side of the building, but it's limited and on the far side of the house to the South. There is also street parking. You may also attend virtually via Discord. Instructions for Discord use are at the bottom of this page or can be accessed through Message Boards as well.
There are some things we are requesting to help us be successful with our hybrid model.
- Please remember to RSVP through Meetup. When you arrive there will be a sign up sheet by the door for readers.
- We are asking all attendees to please upload work you will be reading as early as possible. Monday evening to midday Tuesday is the preference. This will help alleviate any challenges with audio should they arise. We have added a #the-drop-zone channel in Discord where you should drop your work. This is NOT a requirement; however allowing everyone access to typed copy and returning written critique is very helpful.
If you’re writing until the last moment and can’t bring a laptop or device, please try to bring a Word doc with you on a jump drive or load it to a cloud drive you can access from one of the computers at the location.
- If you are attending in person and can do so, bring a personal laptop or portable device to access virtual work. If you don’t have this technology, that is fine, you will just have to listen and take notes.
- Also, if you are in person, bring a couple hard copies of your work if possible.
Discord Access
Download the Discord app based on your type system, Mac or PC. Please make sure you actually download the app instead of just doing it through the internet as sharing functionality doesn't work unless you have the app on your computer.
B. Register yourself on the app after download.
C. To join the group "server" in Discord, you click on the green plus sign on the left. In the page that opens, click the "join a server" link at the bottom, paste this link in there https://discord.gg/3UxUmdmzC2 and then click "join server."
D. Yay! You made it in. Now that you've joined the group, click "Le Lounge General" which will allow you to be in a room with all of us and chat, share, etc. Make sure your microphone is on in the app. You can see it at the bottom left of the page next to your username, it may require some testing which can be accessed on the settings wheel - also next to your name.
E. Best results for listening without feedback or echo would be to use a headset with built-in mic plugged into the computer. Having a separate mic and headphone setup has proven difficult. You may also just use your computer mic, but that can lead to feedback, so a headset with mic is the preferred choice.
F. Have a piece of writing you would like to share at the ready so we can teach you how to live feed it to the group.
