Decarbonizing Heating in Manufacturing and Other Medium-Temperature Applications

Details
Industrial heating operations currently produce about 23% of the United States' GHG emissions, primarily from natural gas combustion. Decarbonizing this segment has received limited attention and has historically been viewed as a "hard to abate" sector due to high temperatures and the low price of natural gas.
Join us as we welcome Blair Willcox, head of CurrentTech Energy, a thermal decarbonization consulting firm. This talk will attempt to bring some light to this sector and cover some ways to decarbonize and electrify these heating systems and where they can be cost-competitive with natural gas, including new technologies such as industrial heat pumps and electric-thermal energy storage systems, as well as dual-fuel systems that can use electricity when renewable electricity is prevalent.
After the talk, Blair is happy to discuss utility tariff structures, managed energy service agreements, and the importance of expanding wind energy.
This event is in person at Odell Brewing Five Points Brewhouse in Denver. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Plan to arrive early for a brief networking period. The main presentation will start promptly at 7 PM. A live stream option will be provided for remote viewing.
