The Malvern Hills (South)

Details

This is a new 10.7 mile route avoiding lanes and streets. Starting from Wyche Cutting (where there are public toilets), we head South West along the Geopark Way through fields and woodland passing a number of very interesting properties. We walk along the foot of Herefordshire Beacon, Millennium Hill, Hangman’s Hill and half way up Swinyard Hill before starting our return through Gullet Wood. So far the walk has been mostly downhill, fairly flat with the odd “undulation” but now the ascent starts as we pass the reservoir at Tinker’s Hill up to British Camp. From there we walk the tops of Black Hill, Pinnacle Hill, Jubilee Hill and Perseverance Hill enjoying 360 degree views for miles as we return to Wyche Cutting. Total ascent is 1,700 feet with the Tinker’s Hill stretch accounting for most of it but we will take it steady along this section.
NOTE: The start point is 58 miles from Church Stretton (1 hour 15 mins) so do have a think about car share etc as the journey is well worth it.
