Writers in Victoria! Writers CONNECT is a free, monthly, in-person meetup that combines community-building with professional development. Whether you're an emerging or established writer, join us to be part of a community of writers working in all genres.
Each meetup begins with a round of introductions followed by a short (20-30 minute) presentation about something related to the writers' craft, business or tools and techniques.
The 'formal' part of the evening wraps up around 6:00 pm, and we move from the boardroom to the KWENCH lounge, where we have another hour to network and mingle with fellow writers. A full bar is available (debit and credit cards only; no cash).
Presentation Summary:
Have you ever wondered what it takes to write 100 books? What about 500? Or 1,000? That may sound like an impossibly high number, but it some of the world’s most successful authors wrote hundreds of books over the course of their writing careers. Isaac Asimov wrote more than 300 books. Enid Blyton wrote more than 800. Legendary Western writer Lauren Bosworth Paine wrote close to 1,000. Some wrote even more. This presentation will examine some of the techniques and daily habits of more than a dozen remarkable writers to show how writers might dramatically increase word count without sacrificing quality.
Sean McLachlan is an archaeologist who has excavated in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Now a full-time writer, he specializes in history, travel, and fiction.
