The Roseland - Camping, Campervanning & hiking in Cornwall's hidden gem

Details
Please join us for a spectacular weekend in one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula. We will be camping in the Treloan campsite on the edge of the pretty Cornish village of Portscatho. IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT A TENT, WE WILL BE BRINGING A SPARE 4 & 2 PERSON TENT WHICH WILL BE ERECTED BY KEN. The campsite is right on the South West Coast path and we will be doing a moderate walks on the Saturday with flexible options for Sunday.
Now that the weather is improving I strongly advise you to book a pitch in case there is a last minute rush. https://treloancoastalholidays.co.uk/
Please mention my name/Wild Wanders and they will assign you a pitch alonside the rest of the group.
The beaches on the Roseland are quite beautiful and at this time of the year they will be relatively empty (school half-term isn’t until the next weekend). There is an abundance of wildlife to view and we are very likely to see the seal colony near Killigerran Head.
Programme
Friday: Arrive anytime after 10.00 am. All those who have arrived by 6.00 pm, we will have the option of a meal out or BBQ on the beach/campsite.
Saturday 10.00 am: We will join the SWCP and head west towards Saint Anthony's Head, a former naval coastal defence fortification. We will pass several beaches including Towan and Portbeor where we hope to see the seal colony. Continuing around the headland we will enjoy splendid views of the Fal estuary and the two Tudor castles in St Mawes and Falmouth. We will then take the foot ferry from Place House to St Mawes where we will have lunch and a stroll around the harbour. Returning to Place, we will follow the SWCP inland to Bohortha and then back to Town Beach and on to the campsite. Total distance – about 9 miles.
Saturday evening: The option of a meal out in Portscatho, or a BBQ on the beach/campsite (let’s see what the weather is like closer to the day).
Sunday – Dependent on how we all feel, we can we can either walk/beach/visit local areas of interest….we shall let the group decide.
The campsite offers space for tents, camper vans and caravans and the tariff for the weekend is £25 per night for two adults, a pitch and a car. The site has excellent facilities and only 10 minutes’ walk from the village of Portscatho which offers a shop, restaurant, pub and assorted arts and craft shops.
There is no upper limit to how many can join us and I hope this appeals to many of you. I do have to give the campsite and restaurant (if we choose to eat out) an early indication of numbers in order that they can reserve some space should we be a large group.
