What we’re about
Are you interested in finding cool things in nature? From plants, animals, and trees to fungi, there is an enormous amount of life in our forests that goes unseen by most. Would you like to learn about different fungi and plant species native to Northeastern America? YES! Well, join us for a walk in the woods with experienced foragers where we will learn about fungal and plant species identification, foraging skills, and maybe even take some choice edibles back home to cook! The goal of this group is to bring together like-minded individuals who share an interest in learning, exploring, and being outside with cool people. Anyone is welcome to join this group, no foraging experience or knowledge is required.
We will go on foraging walks in various locations surrounding the Boston area, most events will be held in Eastern Massachusetts, However we will also venture out to different locations periodically and go on some wilderness hikes in New Hampshire. During the walks we move at a slower pace to make sure we don't miss anything, and we do venture off the beaten path as most fungi are not directly on the trail (I recommend wearing longer socks!)

About Me:
My name is Darren and I have been foraging mushrooms for 4 years as a hobby. This is my most favorite hobby as you never know what cool looking thing you are going to find next, and you may even be rewarded with a tasty meal. I have helped lead foraging events with the Bay Staters for Natural Medicine - Definitely check them out->(https://www.baystatersnm.org/). You can find some of my coolest finds on my IG @massachusettsmushrooms
