What we’re about
MAKE Roanoke is a non-profit makerspace in Roanoke, VA. MAKE Roanoke is entirely led and run by volunteers. We are located at 128 Albemarle Ave SE, B, Roanoke VA 24013. We don't have standard open hours, but instead give our membership key fobs to access the space whenever suits them.
Mission Statement
MAKE Roanoke exists to promote knowledge, skill, and creativity in science, technology, crafts, and the arts. We strive to foster these values in an inclusive and safe environment. To these ends, MAKE Roanoke shall provide the following:
- An inclusive and collegial social framework for members to inspire and collaborate with others of similar interests;
- A maintained communal space providing safe access to tools and supplies for projects; and
- Events to promote education and collaboration between members and the greater Roanoke community.

Holiday Basket Weaving Class
MAKE Roanoke, 128 Albemarle Ave SE, Roanoke, VA, USCreate a rectangular reed basket to decorate your home, carry essentials, or fill with goodies for an extraordinary gift basket!
Come to class with an idea of what you’d like to carry in your basket, & you can make it to size (measure the length, width, & height). For instance: Your basket could be quite shallow to carry a casserole dish, tall to carry 2 bottles of wine, square as a catch-all for keys at your entryway, or rectangular for carrying gifts to the car.
This class is suitable for beginners to intermediates. It's appropriate for ages 9 and up with adult supervision.
The cost for this class is $40, and the cost for Full MAKE Roanoke Members is $30. MAKE Roanoke Members can also bring 1 guest at the discounted member rate! Learn more about MAKE Roanoke Membership here. Payment is taken at the door by PayPal, Cash, or Card (including tap-to-pay and Apple Pay).
Please note that MAKE Roanoke is an active workshop:
- All participants must have a signed waiver on file. If the participant is a minor, the wavier must be signed by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian. Waivers can be filled out ahead of time at https://mkroa.org/waiver
- Closed toed shoes are required in the space at all times by everyone, regardless of age or participation in an event. No sandals, crocs, or bare feet.
- You may be asked to remove or tuck in dangling jewelry, lanyards, etc for safety.
- Depending on the activity, other dress code rules may apply.

MAKER MINI: Make a Resistor out of Graphite
MAKE Roanoke, 128 Albemarle Ave SE, Roanoke, VA, USMAKE Roanoke is pleased to offer another session in our series of FREE short classes we're calling Maker Minis! This one is about resistors and circuit boards!
This Maker Mini will cover voltage, current, and resistance as it applies to a circuit board. We'll show you how to use a multimeter and then participants will be able to make a resistor out of graphite.
This class is suitable for beginners, and is recommended for ages 12 and up. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Seating is limited, so please RSVP to save your seat!
