ABOUT

When we think about “accessibility”, most of us associate it with the impact on external visitors: can they navigate our site via screenreader? Do the colors in our designs have high enough contrast? Do all the images have alt text?

While valuable, an accessible UI is only one piece of the puzzle. It’s time we focus not only on our users’ experience, but also that of our colleagues, and their day-to-day lives working in our code bases. In this talk, we’ll explore how to make our processes, practices, and our actual programming more accessible, so that everyone on our team can be successful.

THE SPEAKER

In addition to being a Madison Women in Tech organizer, Hilary Stohs-Krause is a senior software engineer at U.S. cybersecurity company Red Canary. She's a regular podcast guest and conference speaker. She's passionate about the intersection of tech, entrepreneurship and social justice. She became obsessed with plants during the pandemic, and will read any fantasy or sci-fi she can get her hands on.
