What we’re about
Welcome to the grass roots, people-powered, community calendar of events for the Witches & Pagans Community in Los Angeles!
There are several new, important differences between this and most other Meetups. The most important difference is that from now on ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO CREATE AND ANNOUNCE MEETUP EVENTS - as soon as you send a request to be upgraded to Event Organizer status by sending a request to member, Krystal Rains. (click on members, and search for her name)
Due to the recent change in status/spammer ownership, there does appear to be one remaining change. It looks likes Meetup.com altered their policies regarding open calendars, such that groups started after 2014 are not able to allow all members to post events. Instead, admins can upgrade any member to "Event Organizer" status, allowing them to create, edit, and delete their own events as they like. When our meetup changed hands our page changed to the new model.
You can read about Meetup's policy here: Member Suggest Meetups. "
EVERY SINGLE COMMUNITY MEMBER can post ANY EVENT you like on the new Community Calendar - As soon as you request Event Organizer status due to the changes on Meetup.com (see above) - And you can even announce it yourself immediately the entire community without approval as well.
Here is - step by step - how to create a grass roots Meetup event on the Community Calendar:
1. Join the Community.
2. Go to the members, search for Krystal Rains and request to be made an "Event Organizer"
3. Event Organizers may add Meetups by filling out the 'Let's Meetup and...' form
4. Meetups added by Event Organizers are turned into official Meetups immediately.
5. Event Organizer-added Meetups with a date selected will appear on the Calendar
6. Event Organizer-added Meetups without a date selected will appear only on the 'Upcoming' Meetups list on the Meetup Group's home page
7. The Event Organizer who adds the Meetup may choose to announce the Meetup to the Meetup Group's members immediately.
Finally, the community mailing list is currently moderated, but informative messages will be approved to reach the entire community!
Please Use the Message Boards for ongoing conversations.
These are powerful community building tools. Please use them responsibly.
This is our community. Let's nurture and care for it.
The Green Man Beltane Ritual with The Temple of Ced
April 26 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$35
This year’s event is on Saturday April 26th! Gates open 12:00 pm.
Come join us with the Green Man Pagan Community Tribe for a good old-fashioned Beltane Rite!
This celebration is not at the store, but at a NEW OFFSITE LOCATION: We are returning to the beach location of our very first Green Man Beltane! This is the La Jolla Group Campsite in Pt. Mugu. Google Maps directions to the campsite: https://www.google.com/maps/place/La+Jolla+Group+Campsite/@34.0859744,-119.035042,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x80e838a4c86ae483:0x51012d2f872616eb!8m2!3d34.0859744!4d-119.035042!16s%2Fg%2F1tc_fkzj?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDMxNi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
No charge for kids under 13. However, a warning: It being Beltane & us being Pagans, the theme of the festival may at times be a bit suggestive and adult; as long as you’re cool with that, kids are most welcome & we expect there will be some present.
This is a picnic-type event and we encourage folks to bring some picnic eats for themselves to enjoy. Also, feel free to bring something for sharing on the Drinks table! Note: if you plan on drinking, please also plan on having your own food to soak up some of that booze, even if you do believe it actually helps your coordination for the Maypole! We have tried it sober & buzzed, but the Maypole Dance just seems to crash into mayhem every year regardless! Also, please bring camp chairs and/or picnic blankets to sit on.
Come, enjoy old world Pagan Pole dancing. Rub up against nature and a few frolicking nature lovers as we turn this year’s Wheel. And there can never be enough frolickers, right? Come experience the singeing of your unspeakables as you jump the Beltane Fire! Beat the ground, dance and make merry like a loon with bells on! Mischief, mayhem, what a pair, a bawdy line twixt foul and fair!
We plan to start the festivities at around 1:00 pm with a drumming circle, with our beloved drummer Goat! So please bring a drum or other favored noise maker and join the jam fest. Or wear something sexy so you can entertain the drummers with a dance!
The Ritual will kick off somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.00pm. I say somewhere in the neighborhood because pagans are notoriously late. And we are a large gathering, so getting folks in just takes a bit more time! Plus, festival leaders may be possessed by Faeries at this point, so ballpark times is really the best we can hope for.
The Main Rite is expected to go about an hour, give or take, depending on how lost we all get. After Ritual we can continue with feasting & socializing… Or perhaps, if you like, we can get into some more drumming?
Again: remember people this is Los Angeles and it can get hot. Please bring refreshments you would like to drink. AND out of respect to us, please abide by the Law: people need to be over 21 to drink alcohol! Plus adults who are over 21, please show the art of adulting by drinking responsibly so we can all get to have some fun.
This ritual is offsite & tickets pre-purchased are absolutely required. Tickets are available ONLY on The Green Man Store website, and must be purchased NO LATER THAN 7PM THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT. This event is one of the biggest and most popular of the year and tickets are limited, so please secure your ticket early! Tickets are $35.
**PLEASE NOTE: Payments for all Events, Classes, and Rituals at The Green Man are non-refundable.**
