I am running this event for those interested in learning or struggling to speak and understand 'real' Japanese: spoken Japanese! At conventional language schools, they don't usually teach this, even if you think you are learning spoken Japanese from textbooks. If you have been learning the language for around two years and still find it difficult to understand native speakers, anime, Japanese films, etc., you should come along!
This time, we will meet at an authentic Japanese restaurant over Japanese sweets or snacks while their Japanese staff serve you in Japanese. That's enjoyable! It's also a good opportunity to get practical information about how to get started if you are thinking of learning to speak Japanese. You can get feedback on your speaking or pronunciation if you have been learning it alone or taking a course. Absolute beginners are welcome!
About the Host:
Dr Nobumi Kobayashi (CELTA) is an experienced Language Acquisition Facilitator and Coach. She is an academically (social science) and journalistically trained researcher. She also works as an interpreter and writer.
It's a free event, but I ask you to book a 'pre-payment' ticket (£5.30) to reserve a place. It covers part of the cost of your food, so it is a deposit, as spaces are limited!
