What we’re about
City Hash House Harriers is the central London chapter of an international running concept. We’re an inclusive running club that runs every Tuesday night from a pub within London Underground Zones 1 & 2. Most runs are between 3 to 5 miles long (6 to 8 km), depending on how far you want to run, and then we head back to the pub for silly songs and social drinks.
The concept of “hashing” is that you don’t know where you’re going!
The “hare” sets a trail in chalk and the “hashers” have to find the markings. There are some false trails, checks, regroups and shortcuts – meaning that everyone stays together and end back at the pub at the same time.
We generally have between 30-40 runners each week; more for a themed run. We normally run in Zones 1 and 2, but occasionally break out to Hampstead and Greenwich for the Parks.
On average, once a month we have a drink stop (DS), usually on a themed run where you’re encouraged to wear fancy dress! (for example: on Halloween, St Patrick’s Day, Christmas Lights, Oktoberfest, etc). In addition, we also have social events such as our Christmas Party, HAFTA Hash Awards, and annual summer Away Weekend.
