Croydon Mini PrideFest 2024

Details

Croydon Pride in 2024 is a mini festival with a shorter parade, finishing in the High Street with a stage and performances there. No ticket needed!

Less corporate, more community than the big Pride in central London; no parade floats. A stage of live acts, speeches. Meet other bi+/queer locals! Its a FREE event in its 8th year. We're more noticeable in smaller-scale, friendlier, more community-focused Prides like this.

Parade info below, then Festival info.

⚫ Agenda:
1.15pm: Meet outside Marks and Spencer, North End, with banners, placards, flags, badges, pride outfits - whatever you have. Look for bi flags/umbrellas/banner. Prep! (arrive by 1:30)!
2pm ish: Parade, led by mayor
~2:30-2.45pm: Parade finishes on the High Street, with stalls and stage.
5.30pm: close

We plan to march, with flags - maybe (if enough people) one or both of our GIANT (5 meter) Bi/Pan flags, which need 6-8 people per flag. Otherwise banner(s), a flagpole, placards, flags (we can give/sell some flags).

The parade is from M&S on North End to High Street (croydonpride.org.uk/whats-on/parade-route/):
Past North End shops, then at the end cross straight over into the High Street (instead of right down Church Street as before), pausing while trams are temporarily halted. Finishes outside Grant's Entertainment Centre.

⚫ Mini-Festival:

Official After Party (other venues may run nights too) at BoxPark Croydon, from 7pm; 18+ only, physical ID needed. (FREE) Tickets required (details).

No stall plans this year, this reduced mini-Pride was announced too late for us to plan for it. Hope to have a parade group though.

⚫ General:
WEAR: pride encouraged! Bi colours=pink/purple/blue. Plan for weather & security (e.g. sealable pockets/bags, sunhat).
BRING: consider water/snacks/sunscreen/hat, umbrella/parasol - or to hide under, flags/badges, any medication needed. We bring extra small flags for those in the march but can also loan/sell the cape sized ones.
Don't bring alcohol, drugs.

Local shops open normal hours; most til 5-6pm.

COVID-19 safety measures

Event will be outdoor
Please mask up appropriately when in densely crowded spaces, even outdoors (and don't come if you're infectious). We encourage to take an LFT test soon before coming too, if you can. We suspect most people won't mask.
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
