Hello, I am artist Lillian Gray and I am passionate about art and art history.
As an artist, I am known for painting large, bright portraits and capturing people's stories. You can check out my personal art on my website and insta - links below.
I have a degree in art and am skilled in a variety of mediums including Pencil Drawing, Charcoal, Watercolours, Oils, Spray paint, Printmaking, Clay, Sculpture, and Oil Pastels. I am also a trained illustrator and have assisted big and small companies with their digital art and design needs.
The Lillian Gray Art School is my passion project. It is a highly acclaimed art school in South Africa which teaches students of all ages. The school was founded in 2016 and currently trains more than 200 students in almost all mediums. I remain an active partner in the business, working with my highly skilled business partner to ensure the curriculum remains varied and up to date. I personally oversee all content creation and fact-checking for our art history lessons.
In 2021, circumstances led to our family moving to Munich. Having integrated into my new living environment, I saw the need for a bespoke art studio offering a creative environment for like-minded people to develop and grow with each other.
Things you need to know about the lessons:
- To keep it intimate all classes are limited to 10 people – this ensures focused attention.
- Every student works on their own projects at their own level and speed.
- I encourage my students to work in the medium of their choice, watercolour, oils, acrylic, charcoal, linocut etc, I will guide you.
- I have extensive experience in assisting young artists in preparing their portfolios for University Applications or acceptance into creative courses and love sharing their success stories.
- I have a course on finding your own voice as an artist.
- Art history is a true passion of mine and I pride myself in doing extensive research and bringing that knowledge and passion into all my lessons. It helps to know we are standing on the shoulders of giants.

Join Artist Lillian Gray for tailor-made art classes in English! Embrace creativity with weekly sessions every Monday night at 18:30.
These classes are designed to nurture your individual artistic journey.
Each student embarks on their own project, exploring mediums such as Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, Drawing, and Lino Cut printing.
In drawing, topics range from fundamental techniques to advanced concepts like Perspective, Portraiture, Figure Drawing, and Still Life. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, including those at university level, I provide guidance tailored to your skill level.
With a maximum of 10 students per class, you'll receive personalized attention to enhance your artistic growth. Lessons are conducted in English. My current German proficiency is level B1.
You're welcome to RSVP for lessons based on your availability. You're not obligated to attend every single Monday night. I understand that many of you have work commitments and may not be in Munich every week due to travel. Your flexibility is respected, and you can join the classes as your schedule allows.
When booking, please let me know which medium you'd like to focus on and your current skill level. This information is crucial for me to effectively tailor the lessons to your needs. By informing me in advance, I can prepare the materials and guidance specifically for you, ensuring a productive and fulfilling learning experience.
