Life Drawing Boston

*Hey, Lari here. I help keep things running at Life Drawing Boston (still figuring out what that means), but one thing I do know is that Volunteer Night is the best.
It’s free. It’s casual. It’s exactly what it sounds like. People show up because they want to be part of the action, and we love that.
If you’re looking for community, or want to hang out and lend a hand, come by and bring a friend, bring your weird talents. We’ll put them to good use.
There will be pizza.

Welcome to LDB Tuesday nights!

This is NOT a typical, quiet figure drawing group. This is a fun, social, community group that meets weekly to do figure drawing from a live, nude model and decompress from the stresses of everyday life. There is inconsistent, spontaneous instruction that is generally focused on loosening up and letting go of perfectionism. There are no requirements for membership; this could be your first time touching a pencil (although that would be weird). We want you and your energy - we don’t care about your resume.

A loose run-down of the evening:
-We start off with check-ins and get to know one-another.
-We do short, warmup poses with loose instruction.
-We have a break.
-We do more drawing (somewhat longer poses).
-We have another break (some people show their work).
-We do more drawing (longest poses).

Tuesday night sessions are $15 at the door; cash, check, Venmo, Zelle are all accepted. We’ve got snacks but BYOB. Supplies of all manner are provided - big paper, small paper, charcoal, pencils, markers, etc. Feel free to bring your own supplies.

Getting here:

Joy St. Studios is right off the East Somerville green line stop. There is a bike path and a blue bike station steps from the entrance. There is a parking lot for your car.

If you work from home, need company to focus on a task, want to be amongst friends and work on your art - come hang at the studio!

There's coffee + tea, internet, a private room for taking calls, art supplies, a printer - what more could you need?
