Old Plank Road Trail

Details

We will roll at 10:30. We are going to do part of the Old Plank Road Trail from Frankfort to Chicago Heights (20 miles round trip). Frankfort, is the trail’s physical and spiritual center. You’re welcomed by an archway overhead that’s emblazoned with the trail’s name. The pathway runs through the community’s historical downtown with many shops and restaurants within easy reach.

Here is information about the trail:
Trail Information: http://oprt.org/ (Some of us will ride further. We will do an off-chute of the path a few miles west of Frankfort. That will result somewhere between 30 and 35 total miles.)

A large Sunday farmers’ market offers locally grown produce and homemade baked goods. After the ride, you can do one or both of these:

  1. Visit the farmer's market and find lunch there.
  2. Find lunch at one of the restaurants in town

You should come early to make sure you have time to park. The market has expanded and takes up spots in the big parking lot. I plan on parking on the street somewhere near the park.. Follow your GPS to Breidert Park and find parking near the park.

We will meet in the park near the restrooms found at the intersection of the Old Plank Trail and White Street.

Join us for a pleasant ride and stay for lunch.

A HELMET IS MANDATORY for all Let's Ride bicycle rides. Also required, a working and properly maintained bicycle that will allow you to travel the distance and pace you have elected to ride.

As "situational awareness' is critical to safe bicycling, earbuds, earphones, and speakers will not be allowed on this ride.

Other things to bring: (1) photo ID, emergency contact info & insurance card, (2) spare tube & pump/CO2 (3) water bottle. Goes without saying but please dress for weather (sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, rain poncho). While this is a daylight ride, headlight and taillight are recommended to make you more visible.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

NOTE: All riders participate and ride at their own risk. Meetup.com, Let's Ride and/or its organizers are not responsible for your safety or well-being.
