Over the years, this ride has proven to be one of our most popular and our "unofficial kickoff" for the upcoming riding season; even though the "riding season" has already begun this year, we still wanted to run this one in the sake of TRADITION!
And, yes, it's a little bit out of our normal territory, but that's never stopped members before. It's a beautiful ride with great vistas and mountain twisties.
ADVISEMENT: This ride is not for the faint of heart, inexperienced riders, or very small scooters. This ride is for at least intermediate to advanced riders. Unless you have good mountain riding skills, this is not the ride for you. This will be a long day for many of us, so be prepared for the long rides to and from the meetup.
Are you unsure if you have the necessary skills? Please comment below this post, and we can send you the riding advice!
We will start in Glendora/Azusa at the famous Donut Man (http://www.thedonutmanca.com), which features several creative confections, including seasonal specials (fresh strawberries or other fruits), the Tiger Tail (chocolate-filled twist), and Peanut Butter Crème.
We will then make our way north to Crystal Lake. Route 39 used to be open all the way to Highway 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) until rock slides and 40 years of neglect severed the connecting roadway. Now, it's just an up-and-back route, with a very nice café and rest stop at the end and some awesome riding along the way.
After a break, we will head back down and over to Mount Baldy. The road there is inspiring (and challenging), winding through deep valleys, past a river, into tight twisties, and steep climbs, up the mountain.
We'll then arrive at Mount Baldy Lodge (http://mtbaldylodge.com/), a nice rustic restaurant, replete with a log cabin feel and alpine décor. The food is decent, the company will be better.
We cannot emphasize enough that this ride requires good mountain riding skills, and a group ride is not the place to learn them. Overestimating your abilities may endanger yourself and others. Please keep everyone safe and skip this one if you're not up to the task — we have another ride coming in a couple of weeks, and more on the way.

Restrictions & Advisements: We will be cruising at 55 MPH in many areas and climbing steep grades, limiting the ride to 125cc+ scooters. This ride is suitable for riders with intermediate to advanced skills and experience (not beginners).
Please only RSVP +1 for additional riders, not passengers.
****Please show up with a full tank of gas, as always, and a scooter in good running condition. There will be NO fuel stops on this ride. ****
