Glen Aulin trail to Waterwheel Falls in Yosemite, Backpack/Car Camp options

Details

Glen Aulin is 5 miles from the trailhead on Tioga Pass road in Yosemite NP. Backpacking permits are limited, so there there are two options for this event:

1. Backpacking
Donna has a backpacking permit for 4 people with 2 openings for the Glen Aulin trail, pass through. Additional 8 permits will be available one week prior to July 20 on Recreation.gov at 7:00am sharp.
Saturday, camp in the June Lake area or off Highway 120 and 395.
Sunday, Backpack through Glen Aulin to make camp on Tuolumne river, 6+ miles.
Monday, Day hike to Waterwheel falls and explore.
Tuesday, return to trailhead.

2. Car Camp
Sunday, No Host Car camp and day hike to Glen Aulin, 10 miles RT. There are several waterfalls between the TH and Glen Aulin. If you are up for a 17.5 mile RT hike, you may hike to Waterwheel falls. Note: this trail descends from the TH, so the route back is uphill. Lembert Dome and Dog Lake trails are in this area.

Campgrounds:
Car campers are responsible for getting their own sites and their own reservation to enter Yosemite NP. There are four campgrounds on highway 120 and US 395 that have over 100 sites between them: Lower Lee Vining, Moraine, Aspen and Big Bend campgrounds. Closer to the NP are the much smaller Ellery, Junction and Tioga Lake campgrounds, see Inyo NF for more info. All of these campgrounds are First Come, First Served.
In the June Lake area, Oh Ridge and Silver Lake take reservations. Currently all sites are reserved, however, you can setup notification on Recreation.gov when a cancellation occurs. (highly recommend)

Interested backpackers will be put on the waitlist. Please state in the comments if you want to backpack or car camp. We will have a chat or zoom about a month prior to get organized.
