Talk:
Kafka, Now Queued!
Abstract:
Apache Kafka has long been the go-to platform for event streaming, but what if your workload needs more flexible parallel consumption rather than strict ordering? Traditionally, Kafka’s consumer groups provided some level of parallelism, but balancing partitions and scaling consumers has always been a challenge. Wouldn’t it be great if you could consume messages in Kafka just like a traditional queue?
Enter KIP-932, a game-changing feature in Apache Kafka 4.0 that introduces share groups—allowing applications to consume messages with per-message acknowledgments, independent scaling, and efficient retries. With this enhancement, you can bring queue-based workloads to Kafka while maintaining the scalability and durability Kafka is known for.
Join us for this session to dive into the details of KIP-932, explore its real-world use cases, and see how it simplifies message processing for high-throughput, independent work items.

Vector embeddings and how it helps in real-time Generative AI inferences
Abstract:
Vector embeddings and similarity searches on embeddings have unlocked AI usecases which were previously not used to derive insights from unstructured data. This has opened up new frontiers around RAG and with modern techniques, such similarity searches could also be performed on real-time streaming data.In this session, an introduction to vector embeddings would be rpesented. Taking the audience through different intuitions based on which modern embedding models are created. THe evolution of e,bedding techniques from TF-IDF to word2vec to BERT.The last section of this session would introduce how embeddings are changing the real-time streaming landscape with business use cases.
