Just For Fun Camping - Camping For All

Time to open up for outdoor camping. We will visit Cedarville State Forest for our first outdoor camping of this year. We can explore the various national and historical features of the forest. Cedarville offers fresh water fishing, hiking and biking trails as well as horse back riding trails. Come and celebrate the opening of outdoor camping at Cedarville. And of course pot lucks are always welcomed! :)

WHERE: Swallow Falls State Park, 2470 Maple Glade Road, Oakland, MD 21550 Tolivar Loop
WHEN: May 30-June 1, 2025. Check in/out: 3pm/12pm

This mountain park is located nine miles north of Oakland, Maryland and contains some of Maryland's most breathtaking scenery. The Youghiogheny River flows along the park's borders, passing through shaded rocky gorges and creating rippling rapids. Muddy Creek Falls is a crashing 53-foot waterfall – a spectacular sight. Tall hemlocks dominate the silent woods. The 1.25 mile trail through S​wallow Falls guides hikers to some of the most breath-taking scenery in Western Maryland. Other trails through the area include a trail to Herrington Manor State Park which boasts a 53 acre lake for swimming/boating. Your payment to Swallow Falls includes entry to Herrington Manor.

Sat, May31: 9:30 Group Activity TBD at Friday evening campfire
5pm Group dinner
Sun, Jun 1: Breakfast, strike camp, return home

No one is under any obligation to participate in the proposed plan. This is your time to be enjoyed as you like.

For the group dinner, just bring your favorite picnic food. Pleas refrain from store bought chips/dip as your main offering. It usually doesn't get eaten and frankly; it is a cop out.

Please bring something GREEN to tie around your campsite post to help me identify you are part Just for Fun Camping.

I ask that everyone bring a bundle of firewood to support our 2 evening fires.

It's time for another fun filled weekend at Susquehanna State Park.
Let's continue to grow our camping family by making new friends and meeting up with the old. Go for a hike through the many trails offered. Visit the grist mill. Do a scavenger hunt. Fish for our dinner. There is boating on the river. And don't forget the amazing pot luck bon fire! Hope to see you there!

By the water is the place to be for the hot days of Summer. Come join us as we visit Greenbrier State Park. Greenbrier is located in the Appalachian Mountains.The park has many recreational activities but is best known for the beach area. Here we can swim, canoe, kayak or fish on the fresh water man made lake. The park has a visitor center and many other building that support the park. We can visit the three covered bridges in near by Frederick County. Stay and have a picnic lunch located near the bridge. After enjoying the days activities we'll settle down and have the our world famous pot luck dinner! Don't delay! Sign up today!
