What we’re about
Jam With Humans is a project dedicated to teaching and performing contemporary music. from humans to humans.
In this group, you'll find mostly workshops on musical improvisation and creativity. They are free (pay-what-you-can) and very regular. Click on one of our future workshops in the calendar to learn more about them (there's even an FAQ, that's how serious we are).
From time to time, we do other activities such as courses and live shows. Anything we do, it's guaranteed to be fun 😁

Jam With Humans Orchestra
We like making music that will keep you on the edge of your seat. That's not boring. That will bring you along on a journey. And that will make you feel things, from laughing off your seat to being glued to it while being carried in introspective thoughts.I Am Counting On You (Inês Fertuzinhos and Pia Mačerol)
I am Counting on You is a dynamic duet performance. Happening here and now. I say osem, you say awesome. We are awesome, when we stand in line to…We stand closely together. And when we almost do, we never do the same.
Inês Fertuzinhos is a Portuguese performer currently base in the Netherlands where she is studying at ArtEZ University of the Arts. Intrigued by the role of the artist in society, her artistic expression is an exploration of human behaviors and experiences while defying the limits of the conventions of the performance.
Pia Mačerol is a Slovenian maker-breaker currently based in The Netherlands, where she studies at ArtEZ Bachelor of Dance Artist. Pia’s artistic practice is improv-based, improving based and moving based. Her research turns around the body and goes deep inside the body. For a leap of imagination! The students of the Music Improvisation Course level 4 (composition)
These students have been meeting up to learn new ways to communicate with each other and the audience through improvised music - and now they want to show you their work. The level 4 focuses on composition. This is a pay-what-you-want show, which means that we'll ask for a voluntary contribution at the end.
It's also a non-ticketed show, which means that the audience will be let into the room for as long as there are available seats - first come, first served.
It's also a family-friendly show, so bring your family, friends, enemies and pets of the goldfish variety.

Each part of the course will run with a minimum of six participants.About The Jam With Humans approach
In Jam With Humans, we trust the best way to explore an instrument is by playing it.
In the rhythm part, we'll start by exploring rhythms by clapping our hands and stomping our feet. Then we'll pick up our instruments and dive into distinction between rhythmic roles, how to deal with any time signature and more.
In the harmony part, we'll start by building our sensibility over which notes sound "consonant" and "dissonant" using only our voice and ears. We will then answer the question "why is harmony theory like this?", which involves understanding the acoustic properties of our instruments. Finally, we'll work on creating harmonies, touching concepts such as counterpoint, context and movement.
In the melody part, we'll start slow by picking one note, adding new notes to it and reflecting how do we feel about them. We'll create melodies within a harmonic context (both one that we know of in advance, and one we learn about on the spot), and we'll also create our own context as we both improvise and write down our melodies.Learn all about the course and register here → https://jamwithhumans.com/teaching/creativity
