What we’re about
The purpose of this group is to meet other people for socializing and making friends!
This group is intended for teens and adults to socialize in a public setting without the direction or intervention of social skill teachers, therapists, parents or guardians. This allows frank, open conversations in a judgment-free safe space. We can discuss hobbies, interests, questions about building social skills together, asking advice for job issues, discussing relationship experiences, etc -- no topic limits (except maybe politics).
Meetups will be conducted with good manners and friendliness. Members are empowered to remind other members if their conversation ventures into friendliness. This will help us learn social skills and conversation skills so we can build good relationship skills. Members will feel empowered to establish and advocate for their own personal space during meetings, and can insist on no-hugs, no-touch rules that others must respect.
Meetups will be casual - potential locations include quiet cafes and coffee shops, member homes, or parks.
The purpose of these meetings can be whatever you want them to be. Whether you want to build your social skills, find out other people’s experiences, how others have dealt with issues you experience, or just meet and socialize with likeminded individuals.
