Hey All,
This note goes out primarily to the new members joining Home Concerts UAE; just so you understand how the events are organized for this group and what you should do or expect at these events.
Home Concerts UAE is a group which was started in the year 2013 and while the concept of Home Concerts was not new in Dubai it was formalized by way of this Meetup group back then.
The concept of home concerts is very simple. If an individual / family would want to host a home concert at their place , they could reach out to the organizers of Home Concerts UAE informing them about the exact date of the event and the number of people their home could accommodate.
The event is subsequently diarized on meetup.com and is usually listed at least two weeks prior to the event date so the members of Home Concerts in Dubai can RSVP for that event. Entrance priority for any event is given to musicians as they are crucial to making our events a success. However, the event is opened to all irrespective of the individual being a musician or not.
A wait list is created as soon as the event is diarized and from the start everyone RSVP’ing for the event falls into the waitlist. A selection process will then be made based on a number of factors. (which include: if you are musician, previous attendance history, diversity of the group (cultural and gender) etc).
People who are confirmed and attending the event are expected to bring a little food or drinks to share with everyone. The host usually does not provide food or drinks unless he or she wants to voluntarily.
The music can either be unplugged or plugged depending on the host and taking into account the neighbors in the area(timings for each event are set based on this too).
The events are free and by that we mean there are no fees or tickets or any charges associated with any of the events. We do organize events in the desert and that would be one of the few times we ask for a small contribution to cover the expenses incurred for organizing that event.
The exact address of each event will only be provided to the confirmed list of members one day prior to the event. However, The approximate location will be shared when the event is announced (i.e. If you are residing in the Marina , we will let the members know that the location is in the Marina but will not give out the hosts actually address till one day prior to the event).
