DEC has a Catskill Fire Tower Challenge for 2025 https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/76620.html Finish all six of the fire tower hikes, fill out a little paper work and get a commemorative patch and certificate of completion.
(Overlook, Hunter, Red Hill, Balsam Lake, Tremper, Upper Esopus) This is the highest.
Meet at Trailhead: Hunter Mountain via Becker Hollow Road, Hunter, NY. Rated as hard on AllTrails, this 4.7 mile RT hike with 2,240 feet of elevation gain should take about 4 hours to complete. Please note this is a strenuous day and intended for experienced hikers. Please contact the leader if you are not sure of your experience level to do this hike. Bring water, snacks, lunch, bug spray/net. Please check yourself for ticks after the hike.
