Kota Damansara Community Forest Park

KDCFP is a secondary forest was part of a defunct

Sungai Buloh Forest Reserve gazetted in 1898 which contained 3,900 acres of protected primary forest .This made it as the oldest forest reserve in Peninsular Malaysia

The forest reserve was degazetted a number of times and subsequent development brought down the size of the reserve to a 857-acres.Home to the Temuan, an orang Asli Community, who are still GUARDIANS of KDCFP, speak an Austronesian language closely related to Malay believed to have migrated to Malaysia 2,500 years ago. A basic traditional Temuan belief is that their God and ancestors are always present with them, guarding their safety.

The Temuans believe they were placed on the earth (Tanah Tujuh) by Muyang (God) to be guardians of the rain forest and that if they fail in their sacred duty, the whole world will turn upside down and humanity will perish. Each river, hill, stream, rock, tree and shrub is animated by a guardian spirit. Rivers are guarded by dragons (naga) and snakes (ular) which often cause mayhem if their homes are desecrated.

We do not employ qualified guides, leaders or first aiders on some of our events. The group works on the same basis of being a group of friends who go out walking together, who invite others to join them on this basis via the Meetup web site.
