Once a year the Greyhounds of New York City (find us on Facebook) coordinates the annual Great Global Greyhound Walk in Central Park, NYC, to help promote breed awareness for Greyhounds, Greyhound crosses (Greyhound mixed breed) and Galgos (also known as the Spanish Greyhound). 2022 Walk Information
Come join Greyhounds of New York City (find us on facebook) for a special meetup at the Tennis Center in Central Park for a bring your own picnic and 1.6 mi walk around the reservoir with your leashed Greyhounds, sighthounds and other pups from a Greyhound family as part of the international Great Global Greyhound Walk 2022!
DOGS: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ALL DOG MEETUP. Open only to Greyhounds, sighthounds (includes Galgos and Greyhound crosses), and other hounds that are part of a Greyhound family. All dogs must be leashed and muzzles are suggested for pups that are reactive to or unpredictable around other breeds or large groups of dogs. No flexi-leads please.
LOCATION: Meet at Central Park Tennis Center by the bathrooms/pro shop building (where you can purchase refreshments). West side: Enter park at 93rd Street & Central Park West. East side: Enter park at 97th Street & Fifth Avenue. See park map link below.
TRANSPORTATION: Street parking is limited, consider garage parking or public transport. CONTACT: Ann Marie - 917-336-9454. Call if you get lost.
COLOR THEME: The 2022 color theme is any shade of RED for both hoomans and hounds. 😍 Complimentary red bandanas, and biscuits for pups while they last!
FUNDRAISING: This year we are fundraising for Greyhound Friends of New Jersey: https://www.greyhoundfriendsnj.org/ Please consider making a donation. Colorful wristbands for all donors. Stay tuned for more info!
BATHROOMS AND REFRESHMENTS: Yes, you can purchase goodies at the Tennis Center and use public bathrooms. Bring a water bowl for your pups.
WALK INFO: Walk is 1.6 miles counterclockwise around the reservoir on the bridle path which is a dirt path. Shorter options also available. Benches are available and you’re welcome to bring a blanket and hang on the grass for a bit! Let’s picnic!!!
