For adult volleyball players of all skill levels, our group offers weekly events including pickup games, clinics, and mini-tournaments. Want to play without committing to an entire season? Our group is perfect if you're new in town, just visiting, or have been here for years and want to add a game to your schedule. Grab a Game is also a great way to meet other players or join a team. You will play with friendly people just like you who want a good game while having some fun and improving their skills. We look forward to seeing you on the court!
What can I expect with Grab a Game Volleyball?
We welcome new players every week and we love our regulars! A paid host at each event guarantees everything is well-organized and you get the most out of your playing time.
Whether it’s an open gym, clinic, or tournament, please feel comfortable signing up by yourself or with a friend. We work hard to create an atmosphere where you can have fun playing with a bunch of strangers.
Most of our events are open to all skill levels (from beginner to competitive) and we do a great job of creating even teams so that you don’t have to worry about all the beginners on one team and all the pros on another. We often have multiple courts where we can match you up with other players at your level.
Who is Grab a Game?
Grab a Game is a division of Chicago Sport and Social Club (chicagosocial.com) and is run by experienced and passionate players who have successfully organized leagues, tournaments and pickup games for many years. Are you looking to improve your volleyball skills? Join us every Saturday for a comprehensive training session that includes drills for passing, serving, setting, and attacking. You'll also learn how to implement a 5-1 rotation. This 2-hour session will be divided into two parts: the first hour will focus on skill and drills, while the second hour will consist of a scrimmage game with light coaching organized by skill level.
Location: This event takes place at SPF's Winter Fieldhouse, 2367 W Logan Blvd., Chicago, IL 60647. Free parking is available along the side of the building and in the Target parking garage on the second level or higher. Please do not park in the Target parking lot in front of the store. Parking along the fence near the Target parking lot is metered spots.
You'll be playing on a rubberized all-sport surface.

Are you looking to improve your volleyball skills? Join us every Saturday for a comprehensive training session to learn a 5-1 volleyball rotation. In this 2-hour session, you will learn how to play set positions while also working on your volleyball skills by attacking, digging, and passing.
5-1 System Summary:- The team consists of 5 attackers and 1 setter for offensive situations.
- One of the attackers may be temporarily replaced by the libero whilst in the backcourt.
- Every player has a very defined role.
- The players will fulfill their role regardless of their position on the court.
- All players may remain on the court for all rotations without any substitutions required.

All players play the whole time in our volleyball ladder tournament! This format welcomes players and teams of all levels to get matched up against teams at a similar level. After each game, winners move up a court and losers move down a court. The winning team on the top court for the final game of the night is crowned champions.

Looking to get approved for our Upper Intermediate BB volleyball games? This session is open to any level player but is designed for players who are looking to level up to Upper Intermediate BB. If you're not at this level, please refrain from trying out until you gain the necessary skills. Teams will play 5-1 or 6-2 rotations with set positions. At the end of the session, if the host observes you meeting the requirements for a higher level, the permissions will be added to your account. If you are not eligible to level up, the host will explain the areas you need to work on before you can tryout again.
To advance to the next level, you must focus on these four areas.- Offense.
- Defense.
- Rotations.
- Your volleyball IQ.

Requirement to play:
This is an adult volleyball group, and players must be 18 or older. Males and females are welcome to play. There is no required gender ratio.Questions?
