Description
The lush and rolling green hills, chocolate box villages, a pretty meandering river, and meadows of swaying wildflowers. Where the inspiration for John Constable's most famous landscapes including the Haywain, which is now housed in the national gallery.
From Manningtree Station, the path winds along the lush rolling hills of the Stour valley following the Edmond way to the quintessential village of Dedham, perched peacefully on the banks of the Stour
We join the river to meander along through wildflower meadows until we reach Flatford mill, the home, and inspiration behind John Constable's most famous paintings.
Leaving the river behind we follow a lane uphill and take in the lovely views across Dedham Vale before descending back into Manningtree where you are welcome to join us for a drink before you take the train home.
GRADE: Beginner/intermediate 16km 10miles reasonably flat on good paths.
COST £10.00 organiser fee pay on RSVP
MEETING TIME: 09:00 at London Liverpool Street Station, outside the main ticket office.
TRAINS: Trains from London Liverpool street , 09:30 train to Manningtree arriving at 10:24 journey time 53 mins, (train fare is not included Return ticket to Manningtree buy in advance or on the day)
WALK STARTS: 10:30 at Manningtree Station
LUNCH: Pack lunch
WALK FINISHES: Approx 16:30 at Manningtree station
