Local Walk: Barton Marina, Wychnor & The Smith Hills

Another splendid countryside walk route, starting in the familiar haunt of Barton Under Needwood. This route covers a wide mix of terrain, especially woodland, poolside, parkland and towpath, with some fine views, and gentle undulation in places.

Logistics
Meet: 10:20 for prompt 10:30 start.
Distance: moderate distance of around 10 miles.
Start Point: By first pool on the right near entrance to Barton Marina (just off the A38), DE13 8AS

Parking: There are several car parks at Barton Marina
Terrain: Rural and mainly off-road. Mix of tracks and grass.
Refreshments: Bring Picnic Lunch, and we'll include at least 1 pub stop.
Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.
Guests: Under 16s and dogs (under control) may attend as guests.

As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety. You must be comfortable walking the specified distance in order to attend please.
