If you haven't joined us yet, you are in for a memorable experience. Our ladies are fun and supportive. We laugh and we cheer. But, all the while, we are working on serious self-protection skills. Here's how it works...
We meet at the Burro Canyon Shooting park in Azusa (which is approximately 40 minutes east of downtown Los Angeles). The Burro Canyon Shooting Park is an outdoor range in the Angeles National Forest—so you can expect stunning views and lots of fresh air. No lead-filled environment or cramped shooting bays.
When you arrive, you are "geared-up". If you have your own handgun, you are welcome to train on it--provided it is safe and suitable. But you don't have to own a handgun to shoot with us. We have a state-of-the-art armory. Our guns are the type of guns you would want to own, and they are well-maintained (unlike typical crappy "range guns"). We only charge a nominal cleaning/maintenance fee of $20 for the use of one of our handguns.
Newcomers are given a short safety briefing, while regular attendees start shooting. Like a yoga class, we will all be "warming up" and reviewing the basics of drawing from a holster and accuracy. After that, we work on whichever skills our ladies want: shooting multiple opponents, moving while shooting, single-handed shooting, failure to stop drills, malfunction clearances, and the like.
Most of our Meetups include LIVE-FIRE houseclearing ops using the police and military shoothouse (the same twelve-room shoothouse that LAPD trains at). This is invaluable training for when your home alarm goes off. But, besides that, it's where we get our best "Charlie's Angels" style action photos! Safety is our priority: You won't be running through the shoothouse on your own. An instructor will be with you at all times.
The Meetup price is $100 per person for three hours. You don't need to stay the full three hours. But you must arrive promptly and there are no discounts for leaving early. This price does NOT include ammunition. But, it DOES include all safety equipment (holster, eye protection, hearing protection).
You must register by calling to provide a non-refundable credit card deposit of $25. You cannot just register via the Meetup system. And you cannot just show up. Our instructors volunteer on their day off to train GGC members. We must have an accurate count on the number of shooters for your safety and to honor their commitment.
