What we’re about

## Details

Welcome to Flash Bards! We collab with Sound Hounds to co-create "enhanced audio flash fiction." I know. It's a mouthful.

Please Note: For most events, especially the monthly VOA practices, I will send an event link to everyone on its waiting list to both replace no-shows and gather observers. In other words, if you're on the waiting list, plan on coming but/and keep that in mind. If from the get-go you want to just observe, please let me know that, and I will gladly send you a link. There are always plenty of seats for observers.

POLICIES:

(1) Consistent no-shows will be bumped to the waiting list automatically until that changes (come as an observer or ready to participate if there's an opening).

(2) Obviously, consistent attendees are short-listed for real projects because what are we looking for? Reliable, flexible team players. Ironically, all other skills, no matter how necessary, are second to these. Thank you!

What is flash fiction?
Stories between 6 and 1000 words, depending on the format (or challenge).

What is enhanced audio fiction? Is that like audio books or radio dramas?
Audio fiction enhanced with voice acting, SFX, and music and delivered in a podcast format.

What to expect: Every Flash Bards with Sound Hounds first-Monday monthly event is different but always fun. No experience necessary!

Depending on a particular event's description, activities can include voice acting, voice over/narration, directing, giving feedback, sound design/post-production, and writing for audio fiction and other media.

None of our first-Monday monthly events will be recorded. Consider them a chance to try something new is a space space or themed workouts to hone our skills.

What is the nature of this group? Can kids join? May my child attend with me?
Flash Bards is based in Phoenix, Arizona and will eventually become 501(c)(3). Thank you for making history with us.

Flash Bards is a group for adults who would like to participate in any of the various aspects of the immersive-audio narrative process for practice and/or projects 100% voluntarily. Leadership roles will be filled by a mix of volunteer professionals and non-professionals.

Children under 18 may neither join nor attend with adults. Due to adult themes, all events are for adults only (18+) except when officially rated family-friendly under appropriate guidelines. Thank you.

Meetup now charges $25 per month to post our events. If you'd like to help, please give whatever you can to Venmo: @Angie-Brumett or Zelle/Paypal to: angbrumett@gmail.com

We will be migrating to Heylo in 2026, so please join us there now too to help create momentum and stay informed! https://heylo.group/FlashBards. Thank you!
