This Meetup is for the myriad events that Farset Labs, Belfast's Hackerspace, puts on and which don't fit into one of the usergroup meetups. You can expect one-off events, as well as semi-regular series.

Welcome to our lively fortnightly board games meetup where you're invited to bring your favourite games and join in the fun! Whether you're an avid gamer or new to the world of board games, our group is the perfect place to gather, play, and socialize. Every other week, we come together to enjoy a diverse selection of board games, and you're encouraged to bring along your own favourites to share with the group. It's a fantastic opportunity to discover new games, challenge friends to your beloved classics, and forge lasting connections with fellow gaming enthusiasts. Join us for an evening of entertainment, strategy, and good company – and don't forget to bring your own games to add to the excitement!
This is an 18+ event.
Are you traveling in?
- 🚗 There is plenty of free parking available right at the hackerspace.
- 🚎 Europa bus station is only a 5 minute walk away.
- 🚂 Great Victoria train station is only a 5 minute walk away.
You don't need to be a member to join in but we do request a donation if it is affordable (suggested donation of £5). This helps cover the running costs of the space as this a members run charity organisation.
Why not become a hackerspace member for 24/7 access to the workshop, co-working, a social space, and many other benefits. The space is run by its members, and completely operated by the community.

Farset Labs is back with another edition of ELI5, our signature speaker series that takes big ideas and shrinks them down to childlike clarity (but with significantly better snacks).

What does progress mean to you? A leap in technology? Personal growth? Scientific breakthroughs or social change?This edition is all about how we move forward – not just shifting from one thing to another, but creating real, tangible advancement.
Whether your story is about innovation, evolution, or slow and steady wins, we want to hear how progress has shaped your world.Can you explain it in a way that even a curious 5-year-old (or an exhausted adult) would understand? Perfect.
The Audience
Are you a lifelong learner? A curious cat? A “why”-machine? Whether you're a thinker, tinkerer, builder, or just someone who loves a good yarn, ELI5 is for you.Talks range from deeply personal to wildly technical – but all delivered in a way that's engaging, accessible, and jargon-free. Just bring your curiosity (and maybe a mate).
The Format
7 minutes max per talk
Short open Q&A after each one
No slides! Props, toys, drawings, and wild gestures encouraged. Projectors allowed only for live demos
During the break, speakers write a 3–5 word synopsis and their name on the blackboardThere are two parts:
An invited speakers section
A free-for-all lightning talk section
All separated by our classic intermission of beer, soft drinks, hot food, and fruitWant to Speak?
