What we’re about
Welcome to the Eugene Ruck Club!
What is Rucking?
Rucking is the practice of walking or hiking with a weighted pack (called a “ruck”). Originally developed as a military training method to build endurance, strength, and resilience, rucking has become a popular and accessible way to train the body and sharpen the mind.
In our community, rucking is more than fitness—it’s about carrying weight with purpose. Whether we’re moving through forest trails, urban paths, or backcountry terrain, rucking helps us train for real-world readiness, deepen our connection to the land, and build camaraderie through shared challenge.
Rucks can include gear you'd use in the field: water, tools, survival supplies, or weighted plates. Every participant can adjust their pack weight to match their skill level and goals.

The Eugene Ruck Club is a community project of the Cascadia Community Response Group**, started to encourage outdoor fitness, and community resilience, with environmental stewardship and emergency preparedness in mind.
