On this weekend in South Devon we explore the dramatic stretches of the South West Coastal Path around Berry Head and Babbacombe.
We stay at the Toorak Hotel in Torquay. It's comfortable ensuite rooms all have tea and coffee facilities, TV and Wi-Fi and the neighbouring hotel, part of the same complex, has a leisure suite with indoor heated pool, gym and steam room which provides the perfect retreat after a day’s walking and is free for guests to use.
The hotel is situated close to Torquay train and bus stations, making for hassle free travel on public transport around the area.

Friday 25th April to Sunday 27th April
£225 per person includes:

• Ensuite double or twin share room on a half board basis.
• There are 5 single rooms bookable for no further supplement once they are sold, if you are booking on your own, then the sole occupancy of a double room charge is £40 or I can pair you with someone of the same sex to share.
• A guided walk each day with a qualified and professional leader
• Breakfast and evening meal each day (included) taken in the hotel restaurant.

Itinerary
Friday 25th April:
Arrive at Toorak Hotel. Meet for dinner at 7:30 pm in the hotel dining room.

Saturday 24th April: The coastal path around Brixham and Berry Head.
Today we head out to explore part of the coastal path around Berry Head near Brixham. We take the bus to Churston to walk through the country estate of Lupton Park. From there we pick up an ancient route, Yards lane, which takes us up onto the coastal path to go around Berry Head and on down into Brixham. Brixham harbour is home to a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s, ship the Golden Hind and remains of fortifications dating from the Napoleonic to the Second World Wars can be seen along the coastline. We will explore these as we walk around the coast. Once we arrive in Brixham you may choose to take the bus back from there or for those that want to we take the John Musgrave trail to return to Churston and get the bus from there.

Sunday 27th April:
Today we explore the South west Coastal path around Torquay. We walk from the hotel, through the gardens of Torre Abbey to pick up the path. We follow this route around to Meadfoot to have coffee in the lovely café overlooking the cliffs surrounding Torbay. We continue to Hope’s Nose, the most easterly point on the Torbay peninsular before heading north across the cliff tops to the village of Babbacombe, before heading back to the hotel by bus.
Distance: 11 km (7 miles) ascent/descent 300 m

Would you like to join me on this evening walk. We will be walking along the Old Canal towards Edgmond. There might be muddy surfaces under foot so the wearing of walking boots or similar sturdy footwear would be recommended. There are a couple of stiles to get over.
Note: Dogs will have to be on a short lead at all times. This is for the safety and comfort of everyone.
You will need to bring along a good torch or head torch light.
We will be parking and meeting on the Free New Street car park along New Street off the High Street and opposite St Nicholas Church in Newport Town Centre. We will be combining this walk with Pathfinders once again.

HEART OF WALES LINE WALKING WEEKEND
On this weekend we explore the Heart of Wales Trail, a relatively new long-distance route established to run alongside the Heart of Wales train, one of the countries most picturesque rail lines running through the beautiful mid-Wales countryside.

The hotel is a slight departure for an Ads Ventures weekend as this a family run Inn in the quirky town of Llanwrtyd Wells, home to iconic events such as the Man vs Horse race and the World Bog Snorkelling Championships. More relevant to us is its setting in the Cambrian Mountains which with their endless open spaces and spectacular hills are famed for walking. Rooms are all individual and have ensuite bathrooms and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a traditional bar (with real ale!) to relax in at the end of our walks, and a restaurant with a good reputation for food where we will take our meals.

Arrive at Neuadd Arms Hotel (by car or train!) and settle in. Meet at 7:30 pm in the hotel restaurant for dinner

Saturday 28th June
Builth Wells to Llangammarch Wells
Today we take the bus from Llanwrtyd Wells to Builth Wells where we pick up the Heart of Wales Trail. We first rise up over the shoulder of Molfre for views down over the secluded Cneiddon Valley and from there skirt Mynydd for spectacular views across to the Cambrian Mountains (weather permitting). We then drop down to Llangammarch Wells and its station to return to Llanwrtyd Wells on the Heart of Wales line.

Sunday 29th June
Circular to Sugar loaf from Llanwrtyd Wells.
Today we walk from Llanwrtyd Wells in the direction of Sugar Loaf Halt for stupendous views over what is probably one of the loveliest parts of this long-distance trail. After taking in views of Sugar Loaf we drop down to walk through the top edge of Crychan Forest before returning to Llanwrtyd Wells.
