The Great North Walk 1 - Woolwich to Macquarie Park ~18 km

Join us for the first leg of the Great North Walk series, a 260 km epic bushwalking journey connecting Sydney to Newcastle. Read below before RSVP!

This section:

• Distance: Approximately 18 kilometers
• Difficulty: Moderate, varied hike with bush, riverside, and street sections with some exit options, suited for beginner to experienced bushwalkers.
• Start: Woolwich Wharf by 09:10 AM (ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 5 at 8:40 AM), finish Macquarie Park Station
• Lunch break: Boronia Park. It has picnic tables, water and toilets but no shops/cafes, bring your food!
• Route: Our route takes us from Woolwich towards North Ryde, featuring the Fairlands Circuit. Enjoy bushland tracks beside the river, taking in stunning views of the mangroves and Lane Cove River along the way.
• Support Our Group: An optional $5 contribution is always appreciated! It helps cover our Meetup subscription and group running costs. (PayID available on request).

Important:

• Be Prepared: Wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes, bring at least 2 litres of water, electrolytes, sunscreen, a hat, and weather-appropriate clothing. Remember to bring your own lunch and snacks for our midway break.
• RSVP Responsibly: Your RSVP is a commitment to attend. Please update it at least 12-24 hours in advance if your plans change. This allows the host to plan and others on the waitlist to join. Multiple last-minute cancellations or no-shows may affect your participation in future events or result in removal from the group.
• Be Early: Please arrive a few minutes early. Directions and event details are provided in the event description. We are unable to respond to directions, late arrivals or waitlist inquiries before or during the event.
• Community Walk: This is a volunteer-led walk with a fellow enthusiast. Please keep the host within sight throughout the walk. You're welcome to leave at any time if needed.
