And here's some legalese:
The organizers and hosts of our groups’ pickleball events are volunteers who facilitate court reservations, manage moving players among the courts, and clarify pickleball rules. They are not certified or trained pickleball instructors. The event fees cover the court rental fees only. No organizers or hosts are paid.
Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability
Because voluntary participation in recreational sports involves physical activity with risk of personal injury or damage to property, our group’s policy is that all participants voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks associated with physical activity.
I understand that I am voluntarily participating in recreational activities with the Beginners Pickleball Meetup group for my own personal benefit, and that these events are run by untrained volunteers. I assume responsibility for all risks involved in the group’s events that have inherent dangers and hazards that cannot be eliminated. Risks may include, but are not limited to:
1. Minor injuries such as scratches, bruises, strains and sprains.
2. Major injuries such as eye injury or loss of sight, joint or back injuries, cardiac events, and concussions.
3. Catastrophic injuries including paralysis and even death.
In consideration for being permitted to participate in the group’s events, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the event organizers and hosts from any liability arising from or proximately caused by my participation in these events. I further agree to accept and assume for myself, my assigns, executors, and heirs any and all such risks and losses that may occur.
