This is always a challenging hike even for seasoned hikers.
Try this 4.5-mile loop trail near Rugby, Tennessee. Generally considered a challenging route. This is a very popular area for backpacking, camping, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
This is a challenging and technical trail that provides incredible views of the river and surrounding mountains. There are some sections that are not well marked, and navigational skills are required. Several rock houses and waterfalls can be admired along the way. Additionally, the natural, undisturbed beauty of the area is a very good reason to hike this trail. Trail blazes on this trail are sometimes marked by arrows and blazes of green. There are several boulder scrambles to navigate and points in the trail that cross over streams. Once you reach the overlook area, there are a couple of ladders to climb as well. There are plenty of campsites along this trail, but some of the scrambling will make it tough to carry a backpack for camping. It is recommended that you calculate at least an hour for every mile. Bring plenty of water and snacks, and if it's been raining recently, bring extra clothing as you will likely get wet. Let's meet at the trailhead at 10 am Eastern, 9 am Central time.
