Sunrise Partial Solar Eclipse, March 29, 2025

Details
On March 29, as seen from Connecticut, the sun will rise at 6:38 am about 45% eclipsed by the new moon. It will gradually become less eclipsed, and by 7:07 am the partial eclipse will be over. I will be set up on Silver Street in Coventry, about 1/2 mile down from its intersection with rt. 44. There is a perfect unobstructed eastern horizon from which to watch the partially eclipsed sunrise. I will have a telescope and 2 pairs of binoculars, all equipped with professional, safe solar filters for direct visual viewing. (Such filters let in .001% of visible light, zero infrared, and zero ultraviolet). The sun will remain partially eclipsed for about 25 minutes after sunrise, so you need not get there right at sunrise. Hope you can make it ! (needless to say, rain, or a hopelessly cloudy eastern horizon cancels)
Disclaimer: The equipment used to view the sun at this event has been used at multiple past eclipses and is totally safe. The filters will be taped onto the telescope and taped to the binoculars to prevent any accidents.
By attending this meetup you are waiving any claim against me or Meetup for any damage (eye or otherwise) caused by your own negligence (such as looking at the sun with your naked eye) or deliberate misuse of the equipment; e.g. removing a solar filter from the telescope or binoculars)
