Sketching the River Cam and Cow Hollow Wood at Waterbeach

Details
We will meet in the car park of the Bridge pub in Waterbeach, near Clayhithe Bridge, for 3 hours of sketching nearby. There’s plenty to draw from the riverbank, or in nearby Cow Hollow Wood. I have often seen house martins nesting under the bridge. At 5pm, we will meet back outside the pub to see each others’ work and perhaps stay in their lovely garden for a drink. You can also sketch from the pub garden providing you buy drinks (I haven’t booked anything with the pub).
If you come by car, it’s best to park in the station car park at £2.50 a day (a short walk from the bridge). There is also a bike rack there. Trains from Cambridge every 30 mins take 9 mins (or 5 mins from Cambridge North).
There is a footpath from the station car park to the river, which avoids walking on the road. You can also use the PR5 bus from Cambridge, but it’s a slightly longer walk from Waterbeach village green.
If you arrive late, look out for people drawing by the river Cam (this may be on the towpath across the road from the pub, and/or over the bridge on the other side of the river), or in nearby Cow Hollow Wood.
Please bring your own sketching materials, as usual. A sketching stool or picnic blanket may also be useful.
