What we’re about
Downtown Montreal Chat Club - DMCC (French+English, and sometimes Spanish)
Welcome to all energetic, and friendly people whom love to chat, and want to practice their conversational skills!
Yes, attending this Meetup is free of charge, **however** there is a mandatory refreshment purchase of $7.00 or more ((no exceptions)). The conversation tends to flow easily here, so before sparking any dialogue it is recommended that you approach the counter upon arrival, to complete your purchase(s) before settling into your chair. It is with our purchases that we are able to continue hosting at this great location. You're invited to enjoy quality macchiatos, mochas, cappuccino, and espresso, paired with fresh muffins, cookies and croissants. Also available are milk/protein shakes, sandwiches, pizza by the slice, paninis and much more... Try any combination of options, at a minimum of $7.00
This Meetup is not a test of your linguistic skills. Any and all levels of knowledge are welcome here. We are regular folks, from all over the world. We enjoy getting together with other like-minded people, and discovering new connections and friendships. "Where are you from? What are you passions/interests? What is your current vocation? What is your ideal/dream job?"
We talk about life in Montréal; its beauty and its challenges. Work, school, sports, politics, religion, art. We discuss anything that comes to mind, in an open-hearted, welcoming and friendly manner.
There is no place like this place. There is no greater joy than to share a cup of coffee and some cake with the eclectic individuals that populate this fantastic, multicultural city.
DMCC; come and see!
_____________________________________________________________Other Information to Note
You do not have to sit at the same table throughout the meetup. Please feel free to change places, and open up to new people. **However** We are not permitted to displace tables/chairs. Please respect the staff of B.Hive Café, and their order of operation. This includes putting your own plates/mugs or garbage/recycling in the garbage can, or on the designated dishware table, where they belong.
As well, be respectful of objects in the coffee shop including plates, mugs, decorations, tables, chairs, or board games. Treat this lovely space with respect, as if it were your own.
It’s not necessary, but it's also not a bad idea to prepare topics to bring to the table. From personal queries regarding education or job search, all the way to contemporary subject matter, such as artificial intelligence, useful language apps, stocks or crypto. What are your interests? What questions have you always wanted to ask Montréalers, as a new arrival?
I am open to any assistance in organizing, and welcoming newcomers in both English and French. If you are interested let me know in person, or feel free to send me a message.
