Über uns
We are a group of nice and cheerful people who like to be active in the outdoors. We meet for hikings and other outdoor sports in and around Hamburg and in Northern Germany. We are of all ages and come from many countries, are open minded, friendly and always interested in meeting new people. Join Hamburg Hikers if you are new to Hamburg, if you want to get to know the Hamburg area and its people better or just if you like hiking with a group. Attending is free for all events! (... but you may incur costs for your tickets, admission, food and drinks.)
If you have an idea for an event, please give notice and become an organizer of Hamburg Hikers! It's easy and you define all conditions for your event: the sporting level, the distance, the pace, the duration, the supporting program, group size, language of the event description and everything else that is important for you. Just make sure your event somehow matches the groups purpose and that it is non commercial. And give the participants a fair description about what to expect. If you have an idea for an event but are afraid to organize, please send a message to Lutz or talk to him on a hike.
The annual fees for this group are around 240€ per year, depending on the dollar exchange rate. If you would like to support us, you can help us a lot with a donation via Paypal to https://paypal.me/lbrck
Release of Liability: All events of Hamburg Hikers are private gatherings organized by volunteers, not by professionals. Everyone participates at their own risk and takes full responsibility for their own safety. By signing up for an event, the member acknowledges that he/her is aware and has made his/her guests aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with any outdoor activity and freely accept, fully assume and tries to avoid all such risks, dangers and hazards. The member and guests further agree to release and discharge the organizer from and against any and all liability arising from his/her and his/her guest's participation in the event activities.
We're looking forward to having you in the group!

Alles ansehen- Bistal & Dalbek (17 km / moderate)Geesthacht, Schäferstrift, geesthacht
This hike explores a section of the ancient Elbe Urstromtal and two of its side valleys.
From bus stop "Geesthacht, Schäferstrift" we start on the slopes along the ancient Elbe river bed (once about 25 kilometers wide here - now just 500 meters and far away). We follow then the first side valley, Bistal, upwards and after a flat land section through the southern Sachsenwald the Dalbek valley downwards.
The slopes along these valleys speak of considerable ancient tributaries - from which the Dalbek creek (photo) and just a little stream in Bistal are remaining.
The hike ends at bus stop "Börnsen, Dänenweg" - again deep down in the ancient Elbe river ;-)
The geology is so striking that I included it here - but no worries: there will be no further explanations during the hike. As always, it is just about enjoying the beautiful nature and good company.
Pack list / equipment
- Cash money
- Food and beverages
- A seat pad
Frequently asked
- Where do we meet?
After joining the event, you find this information (text & map)
- in the meetup app: below the participants
- in a web browser on a mobile device: typically on the top
- in a web browser on a desktop computer: typically on the right side- I am on the wait list. Can I come?
If there is a wait list, this means that the limit of participants has been reached. If someone on the going list cancels, the next on the waiting list will get automatically this spot. The limit can be very strict (for example due to limited transport capacities).
- I am on the going list. Can I bring someone else?
This would not be fair, if other people are waiting. Even if not, I need to know and limit the number of participants (see above). Everyone interested should join personally.
- Stocksee & Plöner See (26 km / moderate)HBF, Hamburg
Route:
Tensfeld - Tensfelder Au - Holmweg - Stocksee (detour) - Hornsmühlen - Stocksee cont. - Sande - Nehmten - Plöner See - Godau - Sepel - Dersau - Ascheberg
One of my favorite hikes in spring. It might give you an idea why Karl Baedeker considered this region the most lovely one in Germany.
We will not walk slowly but take our time for nice breaks. There are no good options for shortening the hike.
- Requires bus on demand service (ALT). I will make the reservation on Wednesday, the 30th of April. Please, make your final decision already on Tuesday, the 29th. This applies for everyone on the wait list, too.
- Very limited capacity. Unreliable people might be moved out in favor of people on the wait list.
