Welcome to our Community!
Our Cloud Native Night focuses on designing cloud platforms and developing distributed applications with the goal of enabling fault-tolerant, elastically scaling, and agile products. We are deeply engaged in the entire Cloud Native landscape, utilizing tools like Kubernetes and others, and prefer to build applications using Java and Go. Additionally, we explore other software topics, e.g. Security, Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering to deepen our understanding of the broader challenges in the world of software development.
Hosted by QAware
QAware is an IT consulting and software development company for individual software. Our core competencies include cloud computing, big data and applied AI. We believe that real progress in software development comes from teamwork, continuous expert exchange and ongoing education.
Our goal is to unite people with a love for digital design, software architecture, software quality and coding. Therefore we want to build and maintain a community in which we discuss and shape the future of software together. We are happy to exchange ideas with other experts who share our love for code! You are more than welcome to join our community and engage with us.

Alles ansehen- Kube All the Things! — From Metal to Machine LearningQAware GmbH, München
Cloud Native Night Munich
Join us for an evening at the forefront of cloud-native innovation!
In this cloud native night we’re diving deep into the evolving world of Kubernetes — from bare metal to WASM, VMs, and AI workloads. Our first talk, “On-Prem Kubernetes at Scale with metal-stack.io” takes us under the hood of large-scale, on-premise Kubernetes deployments. Learn how bare-metal infrastructure meets cloud-native tooling, enabling scalable, secure, and high-performance clusters without the hyperscaler lock-in.
Next, “Beyond Microservices: Running VMs, WASM, and AI Workloads on Kubernetes”, explores the next generation of workloads pushing the boundaries of what Kubernetes can orchestrate. Discover how the platform is expanding to support diverse, cutting-edge computing models.
Whether you’re an infrastructure engineer, a platform architect, or just passionate about the future of Kubernetes, this meetup is for you. Expect insightful talks, real-world lessons, lively discussions — and of course, good company and refreshments!
THIS MEETUP WILL BE HYBRID. | Zoom link will be available shortly before the meetups begins

*** ABSTRACTS ***
On-Prem Kubernetes at Scale With metal-stack.io, Stefan Majer (CTO at x-cellent Technologies GmbH)
Now that Kubernetes has gained a reputation as the de facto standard for running applications in a scalable and secure way, organizations are struggling to decide where to get Kubernetes from and how to run it. Most take the seemingly easiest route and go to one of the hyperscalers like Google, Amazon, or Azure. This works for most companies, but it comes with additional costs and loss of control over their data.
For this reason, we will show you how to build, run, and operate Kubernetes on your own hardware in your own data center without losing the performance and elegance your developers are used to from the hyperscalers.
metal-stack.io is a fully open source Metal as a Service API that can be used either by gardener.cloud or our Cluster API driver to create clusters in minutes, but on bare metal. We believe that strengthening the independence of European industry is more necessary than ever. With metal-stack.io, which is developed in Germany, we hope to contribute to this goal.
It was designed with the financial industry in mind, but is also well suited for any application that requires performance, high levels of tenant separation, best-in-class networking and high availability. It has been in production for over 5 years in many different data centers.
There is also a public offering at metalstack.cloud where customers can try and see how Kubernetes feels when not running on VMs.
We will give a deep dive into all aspects of this Open Source project.Beyond Microservices: Running VMs, WASM, and AI Workloads on Kubernetes, Sascha Böhme (Software Architect at QAware)
Kubernetes has evolved far beyond its roots as an orchestration platform. Today, it's a powerful and flexible engine capable of managing a wide variety of workloads, from virtual machines to WebAssembly applications to AI inference models. In this talk, we'll explore how Kubernetes can be leveraged to run non-traditional workloads, tackling common challenges and showcasing cutting-edge solutions. We'll start by discussing KubeVirt, a technology that enables seamless migration of on-premise VMs into a Kubernetes environment, making it easier to consolidate infrastructure and modernize legacy systems. Next, we’ll dive into WebAssembly (WASM) workloads using SpinKube, highlighting WASM’s security, sandboxing, and near-instant startup times that make it ideal for lightweight cloud-native applications. Lastly, we’ll cover running AI models and inferences on Kubernetes with an emphasis on optimizing performance through proper cluster topology, hardware considerations like GPUs, and scalable configurations.Throughout the talk, I will showcase live demos of each workload type—VMs, WASM apps, and AI models—running on Kubernetes, providing practical examples and real-world use cases. Whether you're looking to expand Kubernetes usage in your projects or exploring new workloads to orchestrate, this session will offer valuable insights and hands-on solutions for diverse compute needs.
