Über uns
Group founded by the organizers Read Wedding, which is a monthly open mic (obviously, in Wedding) on the last Monday of every month. RW also hosts editing sessions, book markets, workshops and more, curated by Brooks. Our events welcome all languages and themes, but will not tolerate racism, Islamophobia, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, or any such form of hate.
This group intends to bring together individuals interested in sharing their writing, hearing and supporting others' work, or just to spend a night doing something a bit different, particularly in the neighborhoods of Berlin in which these events happen less often. This is not a group only for Read Wedding. If you're an organizer and interested in posting events here that are happening in neighborhoods like Pankow, Mitte, Wedding or Moabit, we're here for it.

Excluding select, small workshops, Read Wedding has hosted entirely free events since we started. If you have the means and would like to support us, it goes a long way. Please consider donating through Eventbrite.
The Read Wedding Open Mic has been around for over two years, hopping between a few spaces in our northern Kiez. It's in this time become apparent that a method of meeting up more than once per month would be meaningful, yet maintaining the open mic to a monthly frequency is important to the organizers for a number of reasons.
There are, however, many other areas of poetry and storytelling that don't necessarily have an abundance of events to service them. There's much focus on creation and performance, but not necessarily all that comes in between.
Enter Read Editing: our newest event on the 2nd Monday of every month, or roughly halfway between each open mic.
Here, you can join in a more traditional meetup format. We will gather for a combination of solitary writing time, sharing and feedback, and guided exercises. Just show up with some writing materials (or your phone, if you prefer) and if you have pieces you'd like to develop further or receive feedback on, those as well.
See you there!
Brooks, Bubamarrë & Johanna
Read Wedding Kollektiv - Read Editing: Monthly Writers MeetupVagabund Brauerei Kesselhaus, Berlin
Most events for writers are focused around creation or performance. Much comes between this, yet we do not always hold each other in it. It is perhaps expected that all of those self-questioning, unsure, multi-path moments between lightbulb idea and snap-inducing performances are to be personal and private.
We reject that, and offer you a space for everything unfinished. Needing bouncing around. Ready for a test run. Please join us on the 2nd Monday of every month for this event, build for all of your “in between works“ by the Read Wedding collective.
We will meet in a more traditional meetup format than our open mic -- while both events are free, this one doesn't have any set format of facilitation. We will determine the approach to each session based on who's arrived and what their goals are. You may expect some combination of solitary writing time, sharing and feedback, and guided exercises. We'd love for you to show up however you are, and with some writing materials (including your phone, if you prefer). However you arrive, so long as you are feeling curious and open, we will have something for you and your work.
See you there!
