TALK 1: FinOps and IaC: How to improve cost efficiency in the cloud
Financial transparency, clear responsibilities in teams, efficient use of cloud resources - these are the benefits of the FinOps and IaC dream team. In a practical example, DevOps Engineer Alex shows how the use of spot instances in AWS EKS can reduce the costs of a cluster by up to 30 %. You will also learn how tools like Terraform and Infracost allow you to analyze the financial impact of changes in advance and find out how to build a dynamic, cost-efficient and compliant cloud infrastructure with standardized baselines, policy-as-code and automated scaling.
Alexander Wiechert is a DevOps Engineer and cloud specialist with a passion for scalable, efficient IT infrastructures. For three years, he has been helping teams at Cologne Intelligence to build stable and adaptable cloud architectures. With the help of AWS, Terraform and Kubernetes, Alexander ensures that companies can automate and optimize their IT processes. TALK 2: How do you Q? Effective Collaboration with Amazon Q Developer from the Lens of a Solutions Architect.
As a Solutions Architect working with Bundesliga, Christian discovered various patterns for effectively collaborating with Amazon Q Developer that go far beyond traditional code generation. Let us explore practical collaboration patterns he developed while working on enterprise-scale solutions.
In this session you'll learn:
- Why a conversation-first approach increases the chance to achieve better results rather than jumping straight to implementation
- How I leverage Amazon Q Developer's different personas effectively, and when I use which interaction pattern for maximum impact
He will demonstrate these approaches using concrete examples from my work at Bundesliga, including how he turned what would have been days of API integration work into a 15-minute pair programming session with Amazon Q Developer.
He will also address the mental shifts required to move from writing code to becoming an effective AI collaborator. You will explore the capabilities and current limitations of AI-assisted development, helping you develop realistic expectations and strategies for integrating these tools into your development workflow.
When you walk out of this session, you will leave with actionable insights for more effective AI collaboration with you as an engineer in the lead.
Christian Bonzelet is working as an AWS Solution Architect at DFL Digital Sports GmbH. He is interested in all things around ☁️ (cloud), 👨💻 (tech) and 🧠 (AI/ML). With 10+ years of experience in several roles, he has a lot to talk about and love to share his experiences. He worked as a software developer in several companies in the media and entertainment business, as well as a solution engineer in a consulting company.
