In this talk, we will look into different methods of testing and validating Serverless functions. They are quite the paradigm shift, which also influences how we can mock and stub things and how we can get confident about rolling them out. Our arsenal reaches from simple unit tests, to creating Serverless applications that can easily be run locally for development and manual testing, to canary deployments and automated validation.Lena Fuhrimann, Co-Founder & Cloud Architect, bespinian
Hi, I'm Lena. I am a passionate software engineer and architect. Together with Mathis Kretz I founded the company bespinian in 2019 and have since worked with many customers and exciting technologies. My main focus lies on security, serverless technologies, public clouds and Infrastructure as Code. However, I have also worked a lot with Kubernetes and its ecosystem and has deployed many applications to those platforms using automation and GitOps. I use NixOS btw.Talk #2: Rediscovering DevOps' Heartbeat: A Journey with Secure Cloud Development Environments
A cloud development environment (CDE) is an online container loaded with libraries and tools aimed at application development. The use of CDEs is intrinsic to DevOps, i.e. today’s core methodology to bring an application from development to deployment. My goal here is to explore their benefits along the "three ways" of DevOps, namely the principles of flow, feedback and continuous learning. After a brief introduction, I explain how the use of CDEs, in particular CDEs with data security mechanisms, i.e secure CDEs, and the immediacy of coding online brings the core DevOps principles closer to the developers.Laurent Balmelli, Co-founder, CEO and Head of Product at Strong Network Inc.
Laurent is passionate about technological innovation, DevOps and DevSecOps best-practices. And their communities! He loves to design cloud-based applications and brings knowledge from various companies such as Strong Network, Snapchat and IBM. After studying in Lausanne, he moved to the world, including New York and Tokyo, but finally has found his way home to Switzerland. The Apéro is sponsored by Avega IT - thank you very much!
