On April 21st and 28th, we'll hike on asphalt roads in and around Germantown Metropark. This will help prepare those who will be hiking on the Camino de Santiago trail. Apologies to those who prefer hiking in the woods, as I usually do. Same starting point, 7-9 miles.

The hike will begin at the scheduled start time. Bring water and a snack if desired. If your plans change please update your RSVP.

The pace should be approximately 3.0-3.3 MPH (18-20 min/mile). This is not a slow pace. If the pace is too fast for you, please be prepared to hike on your own back to your car.

Dogs are permitted with leashes no longer than 8 feet, per park guidelines.

Please note that some GPS units in cars will not route you properly to the start of the hike. Instead, in the Meetup app for the hike, tap the Google icon and follow the routing.

Oh yeah! This hike actually qualifies for a trail siren alert! Partly sunny and mid 60s when we start this hike! There WILL be MUD on the trails, but not of the kind that sucks your boots off your feet. I know where all the less muddy trails are, and we'll stick to those. You may want your water bottle, and also hiking boots or hiking shoes since there may be a creek crossing or two using mostly large rocks. There will likely be a bit of mud. I do have an alternate route in mind if the water level is high. You may also want trekking poles. The pace for this hike will be about 2.8 mph on somewhat hilly terrain in some places. This hike will be about 3 - 3.5 miles in length. You may want to bring a change of shoes for your drive home. This hike is cross posted with another group.

As a courtesy to the other hikers, please arrive 5 minutes early so we can start hiking at the scheduled time. Thank you.

As we have done in the last couple of months, we'll continue hiking at a moderately brisk pace of approximately 3.0 mph. This is not a slow pace. Please ensure that you are able to meet this pace (20 minutes/mile) before you sign up. Please contact me prior to the hike if you are unsure. We will hike a combination of Sugarcreek trails. Please let me know if you prefer to do the 3 mile option so we can guide you back to the parking lot whenever you desire.
