A snack stop in Deland’s Boston Coffee Shop is made on route to the Forest, then a drive through the Ocala National Forest on toute to the Appleton Museum in Ocala. Lunch in the mid afternoon at the Pink Pony in the World Equestrian Center (a sight to behold) followed by the Kentucky Derby in the area in the Horse Community that has bred Derby Winners on Jumbotrons.
The Appeton Museum in Ocala was built in 1984 of Italian Marble by the industrialist and horsebreeder Arthur l Appleton, the museum houses stunning art from around the world. His eclectic collection includes pre-Columbian and European antiquities, Oriental and African pieces, and Meissen porcelain, and is known for its known for it's strong core of mainstream 19-Century European art.

Starting after 5pm, watch the 151th Kentucky Derby at this FREE viewing in the Grand Outdoor Arena. Catch the action on the Jumbotrons at World Equestrian Center while you’re dressed in your finest derby attire! Shop equestrian retailers or dine at one of seven on-site restaurants in honor of the race, or enjoy special offerings from the pop-up food court. Sip classic derby-day cocktails at the on-site cash bars.
