Details
The documentary Where Then Shall We Go? will be screened Sunday, April 27, at 1 p.m., at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, 700 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden.
Homelessness activist Mark Colville, who founded the community of formerly homeless people profiled in the film, will lead an audience talk back after the viewing.
Colville, and his wife Luz, founded Rosette Neighborhood Village in the backyard of their own home (Amistad Catholic Worker House) in New Haven’s Hill neighborhood as a response to the disruption by authorities of tent encampments he saw in the city. The village consists of modular sleeping cabins. The community is self-governing, with residents making and enforcing their own rules.
Connecticut Public Television filmmaker Ryan Caron King chronicles the construction of the village, its clashes with city hall, and the lives of the residents.
The screening is free and open to the public. Free will offerings are welcome.
